The community of Downtown Cincinnati Lofts just got its first Green Member. Mottainai is a Japanese term which is meant to express regret that something is or has been wasted. Indeed, the building was one of Cincinnati’s first LEED Certified Green buildings. Developed by NorthPointe Group and Kimbler Interests in partnership with B2B Equities, Mottainai is on the forefront of developments geared toward the younger, environmentally-conscious millennial generation.
Mottainai is located at Republic and 13th Street in the Gateway Quarter and was completed in 2008. It combined two adjacent 1870s brownstones into eight LEED-certified lofts randing from 1115 to 1335 square feet. It is one block east of Washington Park and one block east of Vine Street.
Despite the building’s design, do not think that the LEED certification implies any lack of amenities. Designed to evoke a modern feel with bold Asian tones, the lofts feature a combination of cork and bamboo floors, Quartz countertops, custom stone door numbering and stone towel racks. The development caters to its environmentally-minded target market by offering bicycle racks as well.
