Located just north of downtown Cincinnati this Up Town area is where the University of Cincinnati and all its main campus colleges are located.
Of course I love Clifton being a 3rd Generation UC graduate and my daughter graduated from here as well. Its a cool condensed campus with an awesome vibrancy of diversity and quest for knowledge that I love. I have sold lots of property here and can make this a fun and easy home buying or selling experience for my clients!
There are 2 areas of Clifton, The Gas Light District and I’ll call it the Student District. The Gas Light as where the larger stately homes and some really cool modern architecture on the North end of Clifton is. Walk to the Ludlow Ave business district where a great Movie Theater an upscale IGA and great intimate dining, and cool boutiques are located. A diverse population desirous of living in the quieter campus area resides here.
Clifton has outstanding Architecture all around, because of the University’s outstanding Music, Art, and Architecture schools, the campus is really the coolest urban university in America. We’ve seen many doing the campus tour with our daughter who wanted an urban school. The mix of beautiful mix of 1819 founding classical architecture to contemporary buildings, UC Architecture grades include Joseph Struass of Golden Gate Bridge to Michael Graves whom designed one of our Engineering Buildings. Our campus was rated by US News and World Report as one of the top most beautiful schools in the world.
The “Student Area” is mostly rentals and more affordable row houses, mostly turn of the century and some new construction condos. Easy walking to less expensive dining options, a bar, carry out, college pubs, art stores, book shops and campus oriented shopping options like Urban Outfitters and DuBois Book Store for example. Also one of Cincinnati’s cool music venues Bogart’s is located on old Vine.
There is a free shuttle for UC students and employees but its only minutes to the main campus, medical school, Music School and DAAP. The world famous Hebrew Union College is also located across the main entrance from UC.
